Rhythm Heaven Stratosphere (リズム天国ストラトスフィア Rizumu tengoku sutoratosufia) or Rhythm Paradise: Odyssey in Europe, is the 5th game in the Rhythm Heaven Series and was released onto the unannounced Nintendo Switch successor on June 17 in Japan, August 3 in the USA, August 6 in Europe, August 7 in Australia, And just straight up wasn't released in Korea. It then had a modern rerelease onto the eshop on a different generation console. This was one of the most popular titles in the series due to the growing community over the years and the news application on the console having bigger articles "about" it.
Base Game[]
The game is a lot like Rhythm Heaven Megamix, almost built off of it. Before anything though, you get the rhythm test. It starts off with Marshal, Cam, and Miss Ribbon popping up like in Rhythm Heaven Fever. The test is almost identical to the one in Rhythm Heaven Fever as well, except the textures are more like a café. Here's some of the dialogue you get:
Marshal: Thank you for purchasing Rhythm Heaven Stratosphere!
Marshal: As you may know, this game is about rhythm.
Marshal: But before we give you any rhythm games, we'll test your rhythm with a rhythm test.
Marshal: Press A to the beat!
(After the test finishes...)
Miss Ribbon: Good Job!
Marshal: Yeah! Let's try a different version.
Marshal: When the timer ends, press A.
(After THAT test finishes...)
All: Good Job!
Miss Ribbon: It seems you know what it takes!
Marshal: Also, before you go...
Marshal: The D-pad and the B button will be used in the game. Try them out!
(When you press those buttons...)
Marshal: Great job!
Miss Ribbon: You see, there are many important cases in which you'll need to use those buttons.
Marshal: Ok, off your way, then!
It's starts off almost the same way except with Tibby falling out of Heaven World, you play as a kid named Kevin (Well, You name your character at the start, but if you don't, it automatically goes with Kevin.) stumbling around in some woods, and then some new character named Vij falls out of heaven world.
Vij: Oh, I must of hit my head...
Vij: Hey! Who are you?
(You get to type in what your name is.)
Vij: Cool! My name is Vij.
Vij: Uh... Anyway...
Vij: Can you help me get back up there?
Vij: What do you mean, "What's up there?"
Vij: Oh wait, you probably don't know.
Vij: Well, and up there is a place called Heaven World.
Vij: And up there is the best place ever!
Vij: So do you think that you can please help me get up here?
(Then you can choose yes or no. If you choose no, Vij just keeps saying "PLEEEASE?" but each time you select no, another e gets added onto it. It maxes out at 20 e's. But if you select yes...)
Vij: Really? Thank you!
Vij: ...
Vij: Wait, how are we even gonna get up there?
Vij: Well, I think if we walk through this forest a little bit more, we can find something.
Vij: I already see some building. Maybe we can climb up there.
(When you get to the building...)
(Also, instead of like in Megamix where you help characters that aren't really shown in minigames, you help characters that are in minigames.)
Singer Land[]
Vij: Hey, this place has some pretty good music.
Vij: But what are they even playing? These vocals don't make any sense.
Chorus Kid #1: Hey! You just interrupted our recital!
Vij: AAAAH!!!
Chorus Kid #2: Wow, didn't know you knew the lyrics to our songs!
Chorus Kid #2: Uh, why are you over here anyway?
Vij: I was just uh... trying to go to heaven world...
Chorus Kid #3: What's a heaven world?
Vij: Well it's a great place all above the clouds. It's amazing! Do you have a ladder?
Chorus Kid #1 We did, but then THIS guy broke it while trying to change the lightbulb!
Chorus Kid #3: Hey, you know I'm scared of heights!
Chorus Kid #2: We don't have a high enough place here to get you above the clouds, but there might be in the place behind us!
Vij: Really? Yay! I'll get to see my friends again!
Chorus Kid #2: But uh, could you do us a favor first?
Vij: Ok, fine...
Chorus Kid #2: So, our conductor can't concentrate because he keeps putting all his attention on the inconsistencies in this place.
Chorus Kid #3: And we have a bunch of rhythm games!
Chorus Kid #3: So, I heard a theory that if you beat a rhythm game, something called flow happens and then... BOOM!
Chorus Kid #2: You could've done a way better job at explaining that, #3...
Chorus Kid #2: So, if you beat these rhythm games, it'll magically clean up the place, and our conductor might finally be able to concentrate again!
Chorus Kid #2: And, we'll open up the door for you.
Vij: Can't you just ask someone to beat them for you?
Chorus Kid #1: Well, that's what we're kind of doing right now, hm?
Singer Land Games[]
Game Name and Banner | Game Screenshot And Game type | Rhythm Item | What happens when you beat it? | Game Origin |
---|---|---|---|---|
Karate Man 0 | Short Game | As a child, I really only wanted to be a soccer player. My dad had none of it. "You must master karate before you leave my house!" I still live in the basement. | A spider in the room crawls away. A cobweb left behind disappears too. | 3DS |
Sneaky Spirits 0 | Short Game | This bow has been passed down from generations to generations. Apparently it's haunted. Maybe that's why it can float above the ground. | Some dust in the corner disappears. | 3DS |
Spaceball 0 | Short Game | This pot actually connects to a tube my alien friends put baseballs through. You got to be impressed on how well their timing is! | The room brightens up. | New |
Glee Club 0 | Short Game | I wish he wouldn't scratch his back and eat with his baton...Of course, I'd probably do the same if I had one. The conductor carries a heavy burden. | The room just looks better overall! | 3DS |
And then when you finish all the games...
Chorus Kid #3: Hey, how'd you do that?!
Chorus Kid #3: Oh hey, the theory about flow is real!
Chorus Kid #1: Maybe if the conductor was actually here, we'd have a pretty great recital right now!
Chorus Kid #1: Wait a second, was that last game about us?
Chorus Kid #2: You did it! Yes!
Chorus Kid #2: Well, since you've gotten the all-clear...
Chorus Kid #2: I'll open up the door to the next place for you.
Vij: Yes! Maybe they'll have a ladder!
Carnival Land[]
Vij: Wow, this place looks a lot better.
