I have a shoulder impingement. It doesn’t affect me playing golf but I experience pain and discomfort after sleeping on the affected side or when I try to reach behind me with that arm or when I try to raise my arm over my head. In addition to doing some pt exercises for my shoulder I am trying to find a pain relieving rub, cream, lotion etc.. I’m just wondering if anyone has has any suggestions. The choices in the aisle at the pharmacy are many and the ingredients varied. I would prefer one that is pretty much odorless.

Can you get Ibuprofen gel? I use it when I have muscle aches, it doesn't smell and is also an anti inflammatory so really helps with the aches and pains at times

Is Hank Haney still hawking the VooDoo cream? I also see ads for Blu Emu. I have no idea what they smell like or if they are snake oil or not.

Never heard of this. I’ll look into this. Thanks.

I think Voltaren is often referred to as an ibuprofen rub. It used to be by prescription only and is now available over the counter. I was prescribed it for plantar fasciitis and it helped. I use it now for similar discomfort, an inflamed tendon, on the side of my foot. It helps!

I like to use a roll on ointment like max freeze or bio freeze with a gua sha stone to “work out” little tight spots, specifically in the shoulder.

I have used it before and found it helpful as well.

Have been thinking about trying different things at the med cannabis dispensary. They have creams too, which I bet would be great, but its all $$$$$.
I have horrible inflammation from auto immune and injuries, and between it and PT, I am really getting better.
I could barely dress or reach my head to shampoo or anything back as recently as January, and I've made it all the way back to the range 4 times so far.
Had a full size cable tv van rear end me at 55MPH as a sat a stop light in my accord years ago.

For further information, I recently tried icy hot with lidocaine. It wasn’t icy or hot and I really didn’t feel any effects.

I was going to suggest the same thing. It just went over the counter and may be hard to locate as demand has far exceeded supply.
You also may be well served with a Lidocaine patch. Odorless and the RX ones are 5% the OTC ones are 4%.

Bio freeze is what I used for my shoulder impingement. Helps relieve some of the discomfort but nothing quite like PT where they really manually moved it.

There are two that I like. Tiger Balm or Voltaren.

I can’t get it right now in any size from our normal warehouse or our pharmacy warehouse.
Glad it’s availble for you though, have a lot of people swear by it.

This may sound a bit crazy but I just took two gel caps of ibuprofen and rubbed it on my ankle which has been surgically repaired and now is arthritic, and am seen positive results of pain relief due to inflammation. Maybe I am on to something?

Tiger Balm has always been my favorite. It definitely has a smell, but it’s not objectionable and doesn’t have that “Ben Gay” odor that everybody 3 blocks around you can smell instantly.

Man that sends chills as it’s earily similar except I was the idiot in the small car that tackled a Jeep Comanche at 55mph. I’m just glad he wasn’t hurt by my negligence.
I cannot say the same for me.
Get better soon!

Here is another vote for Voltaren. It really helps dull the pain of my arthritis, especially in my fingers and knees.

Completely agree; I actually like the smell. I prefer the extra strength kind. Skip the red stuff, it stains.

CBD creams may be a good thing to try. I couldn’t say if it’s placebo or not but I have gotten some relief from them.
